Connect
1. What Is Connect?
Connect is Splinge's social hub — a feed, friends, bands to follow, photo albums, and direct messaging, all under one account with the rest of the Splinge platform. It also hosts a full Musician Profile editor, and a lightweight sign-up gate for Band and Venue management (the actual band/venue tools live on their own apps — see §10).
2. Account & Sign In
2.1 Creating an Account
From the landing page, click Create account
Fill in Name, Email, Password, Confirm Password
Tick both agreement boxes — Terms of Service and Privacy Policy after reading them (each opens the full text in a dialog with its own Accept button)
Click Create Account
Names and email addresses are checked against a list of restricted words — if yours is flagged, you'll see exactly which word triggered it and need to change it before you can continue.
2.2 Signing In
Enter your Email and Password on the sign-in page and click Sign In. If you don't have a nametag yet, you'll be sent straight into nametag setup before you can use the rest of the app.
2.3 Choosing Your Nametag
Right after registering (or the first time you sign in without one), you'll be asked to choose a nametag:
Check availability before Set nametag becomes clickable
Same restricted-word check as registration
Permanent — there is no way to change it later, in Connect or anywhere else on Splinge
If this is a brand-new account, saving your nametag also triggers email confirmation (see below).
2.4 Confirming Your Email
After a new registration, you can confirm your account either way:
Click the confirmation link in the email, which opens a confirmation page and activates your account automatically, or
Enter the 6-digit code from the same email directly on the nametag-setup screen. Either one activates your account — you don't need to do both.
2.5 Forgotten Password
This is a genuinely separate flow from changing your password from inside your profile (§11.2) — it does not ask for your old password:
Enter your email to request a 6-digit code
Enter the code, your new password, and confirm it. The code expires after 5 minutes (a live countdown is shown); use Resend code if needed.
If you received a reset code you didn't request, click "I didn't request this" to flag it rather than ignoring it.
3. Getting Around
The main navigation (top bar on desktop, bottom bar on mobile) always has five destinations, in this order: Feed, Friends, Bands, Photos, Posts (the last one is your own profile). On desktop, the same five also appear in a left-hand sidebar.
The top-right corner of the Navbar has, left to right:
Notifications bell — recent posts from friends you haven't seen yet; clicking one takes you to the feed
Chat icon — badge shows your total unread message count across all conversations; opens Chat (§8)
Apps grid icon — quick links out to Record Store, Box Office, and Player
Your avatar — opens the account menu: @yournametag, Edit Profile, Musician Profile, Change Password, Delete Account, Help, About, Contact, and Sign Out
4. Feed & Posts
4.1 Writing a Post
Click the composer at the top of your feed:
Text: Up to 1000 characters, with a live counter
Visibility: Public, Friends, or Selected friends (pick specific people from a searchable list)
Media: Paste a link, and/or click Upload file to attach one image, video, or audio file
If you choose Selected friends, you must pick at least one person before you can post. You can add more than one link, and upload more than one file (by clicking Upload file again for each one), on the same post.
4.2 Links & Media in Posts
Pasted links are automatically recognised and embedded where possible:
YouTube and Spotify links embed as an inline player
SoundCloud links always embed as an inline player
Direct links to image or video files display inline
Anything else shows as a clickable link card with the site's icon and an Open button.
4.3 Reading the Feed
Your feed blends posts from your friends, public posts from across Connect, and official Splinge announcements. While you're browsing, Connect quietly checks for new posts in the background — when there's something new, an "N new posts" pill appears at the top; click it to load them in and scroll to the top.
4.4 Likes, Comments & Replies
Click the heart icon to like a post. Click the comment icon to open the comment box — you can reply directly to a specific comment (one level of replies; you can't reply to a reply). You can only delete your own comments and replies.
4.5 Editing, Deleting & Sharing
You can Edit or Delete your own posts at any time (the pencil/trash icons only appear on posts you wrote); editing marks the post "(edited)". The Share button uses your device's native share sheet if available, or otherwise copies the post text and a Connect link to your clipboard.
5. Friends & Connections
Go to Friends.
Find people: search by name or @nametag, then click Connect to send a request
Pending tab: shows both requests waiting for your response (Accept/Decline) and requests you've sent that are still awaiting a reply (cancel any time)
Friends tab: click a friend to open their profile and recent posts in a side panel (you can view but not like their posts from this panel — like from the main feed instead), or Remove to end the connection
6. Bands
Go to Bands and type into the single search box — it matches band name, @@bandtag, genre, or country all at once, so you don't need to pick a specific filter first. Click Follow on a card to see that band's posts in your feed, and Following again to unfollow. Results load 24 at a time — click Show more for the next batch.
7. Photos & Albums
Go to Photos.
Upload Photo (from the main album grid) adds an image straight into an automatically created Unsorted album
New Album — give it a name (required) and an optional description
Inside an album, Add Photos lets you upload more — select one file at a time; if you select several files at once in the file picker, only the first one will actually upload
The first photo you add to an album automatically becomes its cover image
Click any photo to view it full-size, with the option to delete it from there
Deleting an album or a photo takes effect immediately — there's no "are you sure?" prompt, so double-check before you click.
8. Chat
chat.splinge.com, or the Chat icon inside Connect, both take you to the same messaging tool.
8.1 Setting Up Chat
The first time you open Chat, you'll be asked to set up a chat display name and confirm your nametag (at least 3 characters, letters/numbers/underscores) if you haven't already — this only needs doing once.
8.2 Starting a Conversation
Add Connection: enter someone's exact @nametag to send them a connection request
New conversation: search and select people — you can message an existing connection, or anyone else on Splinge by nametag, even if you're not yet connected. Selecting one person starts a direct message; selecting two or more starts a group, with an optional group name (if you leave it blank, the group is labelled with everyone's names)
Your conversation list also shows any connection requests waiting for a reply, with Accept/Decline right there in the list.
8.3 Sending Messages, Files & Links
The message box accepts text, one file attachment per message (images, video, audio, PDF, Word documents, text files, or zip files), and a pasted link — you can combine text, a file, and a link in the same message. Any link you type is automatically embedded where possible: YouTube and Vimeo links play inline, image/video/audio files preview inline, and other files show as a download card with the file size.
8.4 Presence, Typing & Unread Counts
A green dot on someone's avatar means they're currently online. A live "…is typing" indicator appears while the other person is composing a reply. Each conversation shows an unread badge, and the Chat icon in the Navbar totals your unread count across every conversation.
8.5 Group Chat Limitations
Once a group is created, its name and membership are fixed — there is currently no way to rename a group or add/remove members afterward. If you need different people in the conversation, start a new group.
9. Musician Profile
Reachable from the account menu → Musician Profile, or profile.splinge.com/musician.
Make sure your name and address are already saved in your profile (§11.1). Accept the Terms of Musician Account and click Become a Musician.
Enter the 6-digit code emailed to you (use Resend code if needed) — this can take a short time to be approved.
Once active, the editor has four tabs:
Tab / What you can do
Profile: Bio, one or more stage names, and instruments (pick from a preset list or type your own)
Bands & Acts: View your current and former band memberships, and accept or decline invitations from bands
Discography: Add, edit, or delete releases: title, type, year, and your role on the release
Media: Upload (and remove) images or videos to a gallery on your musician profile
10. Band & Venue Registration
Connect includes a registration gate for Bands and Venues — the full management tools live on their own separate apps, so what you do inside Connect is just the first step:
From your account menu (or by visiting /profile/band or /profile/venue directly), enter the basic details (Band name + Genre, or Venue name + City) and accept the relevant agreement
Enter the 6-digit code emailed to you to activate
Once active, click Launch Band Manager or Launch Venue Manager — this signs you straight into band.splinge.com or venue.splinge.com in a new tab, where all the actual profile/venue editing happens
Your basic registration details are remembered on the device/browser you registered from — if you switch devices before activating, you may need to re-enter them.
11. Your Profile & Account Settings
11.1 Editing Your Profile
Account menu → Edit Profile.
Section / Fields
Personal: First name, Last name, Email, Date of birth
Address: Address line 1, Address line 2, City, State/Province, Postcode, Country
Contact: Country code, Phone number
Click your avatar to change your photo — it uploads immediately. Your name and address need to be complete before Musician, Band, or Venue registration will let you continue.
11.2 Changing Your Password
Account menu → Change Password. You'll need your current password to set a new one — if you don't remember it, use Forgotten Password instead, which works from your email without it.
11.3 Deleting Your Account
Account menu → Delete Account (or /profile/delete).
This deletes your account immediately once you confirm — there's no separate email confirmation step to click through first. You'll also receive an email letting you know it's been done. This removes your profile, posts, comments, photos, and connections, and your access to every Splinge app — it cannot be undone.
12. Reporting & Blocking
A flag icon lets you report a post, a user, a band, or a photo album, choosing a reason: Explicit material, Vulgar language, Child abuse, Harassment, Spam, or Misinformation. Note that reporting on the Photos page reports the whole album, not a single photo, and individual comments currently can't be reported — if a comment is a problem, report the post it's on, or report/block the person who wrote it.
Blocking someone (from their posts, their profile, or your Friends list) hides their posts, their comments on posts you view, and their conversations/connections from you in Chat.
13. Help, Contact & About
Help (account menu → Help) is a searchable, in-app help centre — you don't leave Connect to use it
Contact (account menu → Contact) is a real contact form inside Connect (Name/Email pre-filled, plus Subject and Message) — it sends directly; it's not just a link out
About has the app version, a feature overview, legal links, and the analytics toggle described below
14. Privacy & Analytics Choice
The first time you use Connect, a dialog asks whether you're OK with anonymous usage analytics — analytics are off by default until you actively accept. You can read the Privacy Policy right from that dialog, and you can change your mind at any time afterward from About → Legal.
15. Known Limitations
Photos: selecting multiple files at once in Add Photos only uploads the first one — add photos one at a time.
Group chats can have members added but not removed once created — start a new group if you need to leave someone out.
16. Tips & Troubleshooting
I selected several photos to upload but only one appeared
This is expected for now — the photo uploader only takes one file per upload. Repeat Add Photos for each additional image.
I can't rename my group chat / add someone to it
Not currently possible — start a new group conversation with the right set of people instead.
A Vimeo link I posted to my feed won't play
Feed embeds don't currently support Vimeo (YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud do). Paste the link into a Chat message instead if you want it to play inline there.
I can't find Band Manager / Venue Manager / the Nametag page
These pages exist but aren't linked from the menu. Go directly to connect.splinge.com/profile/band, /profile/venue, or /profile/nametag.
My "Forgot password" didn't ask for my old password — is that right?
Yes — that's the code-based reset flow and is separate from Change Password in your account menu, which does need your current password.
I deleted my account by mistake
Account deletion is immediate and cannot be undone from within Connect — contact support as soon as possible.
