Splinge Box Office Manager — User Documentation

Splinge Box Office Manager
User Documentation

1. What Is Box Office Manager?

Box Office Manager is the back-office app promoters and venues use to run ticketed events on Splinge: create events, price seating with an interactive venue map or flat-rate ticket types, invite door staff, comp guests onto a door list, and track orders and revenue. It's a seller tool — it requires an approved Splinge seller account with Stripe connected before you can use it.

2. Signing In & Access Requirements

Box Office Manager doesn't have its own login form — visiting `https://bom.splinge.com` while signed out sends you to `login.splinge.com`, and you're brought back automatically once you sign in.

Once signed in, the app checks that you have:

1. An approved seller account, and

2. A connected Stripe account (fully onboarded, not just started)

If either is missing, you're redirected to the Seller Hub (`https://seller.splinge.com`) to apply and connect payments before you can continue. See the main platform documentation's *Becoming a Seller & Getting Paid* section for that process.

3. Getting Around

The left-hand navigation (a slide-out drawer on mobile, opened with the menu icon) lists:

  • Dashboard

  • Events

  • Bands/Artists

  • Orders

  • Venues — opens venue.splinge.com in a new tab

  • Stripe — opens your Stripe dashboard (balance, payouts, transaction history) in a new tab

Your avatar in the top-right corner opens a menu with your name, Edit Profile (takes you to profile.splinge.com), and Logout.

4. Dashboard

The landing page after sign-in shows:

  • Total Orders

  • Total Revenue and Avg Order Value — in your seller currency (based on your registered country)

  • Recent Orders — a list of your most recent orders with customer name, event, date, amount, and status (Confirmed / Pending / Cancelled / Refunded)

If your recent orders span venues in more than one country/currency, the revenue cards split into one Revenue (currency) card per currency instead of a single total, and a Revenue by currency breakdown appears beneath the recent orders list — each order in the list is shown in its own venue's currency rather than being converted.

5. Events

5.1 The Events List

Events shows every event you've created, with Search (matches title) and a Status filter (Draft / Published / Cancelled / Sold Out / Completed). Each row shows title, date, venue, category, status, and tickets sold vs. total capacity.

Row actions:

  • Edit (pencil) — opens the event for editing

  • Cancel (warning icon, published events only) — cancels the event; see 5.7

  • Delete (trash, non-published events only) — permanently deletes the event; disabled once any tickets have been sold for it

5.2 Creating & Editing an Event

Events → New Event, or click Edit on an existing one. The Event Details panel covers:

| Field | Notes |

|---|---|

| Title, Description | Description is multi-line |

| Date, Doors Open, Start Time | |

| Venue | Search existing venues, or create one on the spot ([5.3](#53-choosing-or-creating-a-venue)) |

| Category | Rock, Pop, Jazz, Classical, Electronic, Hip-Hop, Country, Folk, R&B, Other |

| Status | Draft, Published, Cancelled, Sold Out, Completed |

| Total Capacity | The venue this event is at may separately cap how many tickets you can configure — see [5.5](#55-capacity-checks) |

| Age Restriction | Free text, e.g. "18+" |

| Image | Uploads immediately on selection; preview shown with a Remove option |

| Artists | Type to search the shared Band Registry or type a freehand name. A band picked from the registry shows as a filled chip and is linked for Founding Artist eligibility checks; a typed name shows outlined and isn't matched to any band record |

Click Save Event to create or update it, or Back to leave without saving.

5.3 Choosing or Creating a Venue

If the venue you need doesn't exist yet, click the pin icon next to the Venue field to create one inline: Venue Name, City (both required), Country, and Capacity. It's created unclaimed — the actual owner or manager can claim it later in Venue Manager to take over its seating chart and details.

5.4 Pricing: Visual Map Pricing vs. Ticket Types

Once a venue is selected, how you price tickets depends on whether that venue has a seating chart:

Visual Map Pricing — appears once a venue with a saved seating layout is selected. Click Open Venue Map Pricing (or Edit Venue Map Pricing once sections are priced) to open a full-screen interactive map:

  • If the venue has more than one saved layout, a dropdown lets you switch between them before pricing

  • Click a section on the map to open a popup where you can set a Description, and for standing-room sections, the number of Available tickets

  • Assign the section to a colour-coded Pricing Tier (add/edit tiers — name, colour, price — in the right-hand panel), or set a one-off Custom price for just that section (this clears any tier assignment)

  • The right-hand panel lists every section with its current price, and pan/zoom the map with your mouse wheel and Alt-drag (or middle-click drag)

  • Apply Pricing saves your choices back to the event — it's blocked if no section has been priced yet, or if the total ticket count would exceed the venue's capacity

  • Cancel discards changes and closes the map

Once applied, a summary table (Section / Seats / Price) appears in the event form.

Ticket Types — flat-rate tickets not tied to a seat, e.g. General Admission. Add rows with Name, Description, Price, and Quantity. These are disabled while Visual Map Pricing is active on the venue's seating chart — remove the map pricing first if you want flat-rate tickets instead. You can still combine seated sections and flat-rate ticket types on the same event as long as the seated part uses map pricing or (for venues without a saved layout) the legacy per-section pricing table that appears in its place.

5.5 Capacity Checks

Once a venue is picked, a banner shows how many tickets you've configured (Visual Map Pricing + Ticket Types combined) against that venue's capacity, turning red if you're over. Save Event is blocked entirely if your total exceeds capacity — reduce ticket quantities or section sizes first.

5.6 Publishing

Set Status to Published when you're ready to sell. Saving is blocked if a published event has no ticket types configured at all (neither Ticket Types rows nor a priced venue map section) — otherwise nobody could actually buy a ticket.

5.7 Cancelling an Event

From the Events list, click the cancel icon on a published event. After you confirm, Box Office Manager:

  • Emails every ticket holder for that event

  • Attempts a real refund via Stripe for each order

  • Shows you a summary of how many orders were refunded and emailed, and lists by order number any order it couldn't refund automatically (for example, one with no Stripe payment on file) so you can follow up manually

This cannot be undone. Cancelling is only available from the Events list — there is no cancel action on the event edit page itself.

5.8 Deleting an Event

From the Events list, non-published events can be deleted with the trash icon. This is blocked once any tickets have been sold for the event (the icon is disabled with an explanatory tooltip) — cancel a published/sold event instead of trying to delete it.

5.9 Door Staff

Appears on the edit screen once an event has been saved (not on the initial New Event form). Search Splinge users by name or @nametag, select one, and Send Invite — this requires the user to have an email address on file. Invited staff can sign in to the Splinge Ticket Reader app to scan and check in tickets at the door for this event. Each entry shows whether the invite has been Sent or is still Pending, and you can Resend or Remove anyone from the list.

5.10 Door List

Also on the edit screen once the event exists. Use this to comp guests a free ticket without them going through checkout:

1. Add Person, then either search existing Splinge users or click Not a Splinge user? Enter manually to type a name and email directly

2. Add optional Notes (e.g. "Guest of artist, plus-one")

3. For seated venues, pick a Section → Row → Seat — already-taken seats (whether from a paid order or another door list entry) are shown disabled

4. Add to Door List & Send Ticket emails the ticket immediately

Each entry can be Resend-ed or Removed (removing invalidates the ticket that was already sent).

6. Orders

A read-only, searchable list of every order placed for your events. Search matches order number, attendee name, or purchasing account name; filter by status (Confirmed / Pending / Cancelled / Refunded). Click any row to see the full order — customer contact details, event, a line-item breakdown of tickets purchased, and the total.

7. Bands / Artists

A read-only view into the shared Band Registry — the same bands available in the Artists picker on the event form. Each card shows the band's genre, bio, and country, with an Unclaimed badge if no owner or manager has claimed it yet. Manage in Band Manager (or the open-in-new icon on a card) takes you to band.splinge.com to actually edit band details — nothing about a band can be changed from Box Office Manager itself.

8. Venues & Stripe (External Links)

  • Venues in the side nav opens venue.splinge.com in a new tab, where venues are created, claimed, and their seating charts drawn.

  • Stripe in the side nav opens your Stripe dashboard (balance, payouts, transaction history) in a new tab. You must already be fully onboarded to reach it — see §2.

9. Your Account

Click your avatar (top right) for:

  • Edit Profile — takes you to profile.splinge.com to update your name, contact details, and photo

  • Logout

10. Known Limitations

  • Editing a published event's tooltip says "view only", but nothing actually locks the form — every field, including ticket types and venue map pricing, remains editable after publishing.

  • The event edit screen has no Cancel button despite having a "Cancel Event" confirmation built for one — cancelling only works from the Events list.

  • Door Staff and Door List only appear after an event has been saved at least once — you can't invite staff or comp guests while creating a brand-new event.

  • Bands/Artists is view-only — all band editing happens in Band Manager, not here.

  • Multi-currency dashboard/order totals are shown per-currency, not converted to a single figure — if you sell in more than one country you'll see separate revenue lines rather than one combined total.

11. Tips & Troubleshooting

I got sent to the Seller Hub instead of my dashboard

You don't yet have an approved seller account with Stripe fully connected. Complete both steps at `seller.splinge.com`, then return to `bom.splinge.com`.

I can't add Ticket Types

Visual Map Pricing is active for this event's venue — flat ticket types are disabled while it is. Either price everything through the venue map, or open the map and remove its pricing to switch back to manual ticket types.

I can't publish my event

You need at least one priced ticket — either a Ticket Types row or a priced Visual Map Pricing section — before an event can go to Published status.

Save Event won't go through

Check the capacity banner above the pricing sections — your combined ticket count (map pricing + ticket types) can't exceed the selected venue's total capacity.

I can't delete an event

Events with any tickets already sold can't be deleted — cancel it instead, which refunds and notifies ticket holders.

I don't see Door Staff or Door List on a new event

Save the event first — both panels only appear once you're editing an existing (already-saved) event.

The venue I need isn't in the list

Use the pin icon next to the Venue field on the event form to create a new, unclaimed venue on the spot. Its rightful owner/manager can claim it later in Venue Manager.
